For the past 11 days I was in Guatemala for a photography workshop. While there we worked closely with Nuestros Ahijados (God’s Child Project). During the week each of us worked closely with the NGO on documenting different parts of their work. I spent time on two stories. I photographed Casa Jackson, their malnutrition center and I also documented one of the families who receives help from the organization. These projects are still being edited and aren’t ready to post yet. They will also each eventually become a multi-media as I gathered lots of video/audio. The material will be given to God’s Child so they can use it to help raise money and to spread awareness about what they do. In addition to their ‘Dreamers Center’ a school and safe place for children to spend the day, they support several other things including a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, malnutrition clinics, orphanages, homeless shelters and more. Their staff of teachers and social workers are incredible and they work all day every day to help the children and their families.
While working on the other material I wanted to post this little collection of some of the photos I took while around Guatemala and the moments in between working on the stories.
